Port Sudan Refinery Feasibility and Engineering study

Economic value of project: € 1.2M

Year: 2012

In 2012, Sadam Engineering produced the base engineering of a green field construction project in Sudan for an industrial system for the refining of raw sugar. A technical and economic feasibility study was conducted in collaboration with a leading international consultancy and audit firm. The objective was to establish the economic advantage of sugar production in Sudan, including exports to Europe. Subsequently, we worked with two engineering companies based in Africa to verify the project’s cost assumptions.

The work included various inspections of the installation site, in close collaboration with Sudanese colleagues, involving all the professional skills of the company (electrical, mechanical, technology and automation). The planning work was completed in 3 months. The refinery has a capacity of 500,000 t of sugar per year with a daily capacity of 1,600 t, which can be expanded to 1,000,000 t per year.
