In 2000, Sadam Engineering was responsible for planning and installing a 20,000 t sugar silo in Castiglion Fiorentino (Arezzo) and 2 silos of 10,000 t each in the Celano (L’Aquila) plant. The Castiglion Fiorentino silo has a diameter of 40 m and a total height of 35 m.
The Celano silos are of the same height, but their diameter is 30 m. In both cases, the structures were made of iron, with loading towers and service booths. The silos have a loading system at the top and an unloading system at the bottom, with a rotating screw positioned at the bottom that allows the silo to be completely emptied. Both have conditioning and insulation systems. The walls and ceilings have an electric tracking system for heating in the winter, while all of the mechanical parts that are in contact with the sugar are made of stainless steel.
