storiaIn 1936, S.A.D.A.M. (Società Anonima Distilleria Agricola Marchigiana) was established as part of Maccaferri Group, with the scope of producing alcohol from beet sugar to be used in automotive traction. In the 1950s, Sadam acquired new facilities in the Marches and in Abruzzo. At that time, the increase in production made it necessary to build new beet sugar factories in Giulianova (Teramo) and Montecosaro (Macerata).

In the 1960s, Sadam undertook a growth plan with the aim of becoming the Italian leader in the sugar industry in terms of both efficiency and innovation. Thus, the Engineering Division was created, an independent, specialised team to which issues of planning and implementation of new systems and the refurbishment of existing ones were assigned.

Over the years, Sadam Engineering has developed and implemented new beet sugar factories, for example in Fermo and Jesi, and has refurbished and expanded facilities acquired by the company, transforming them into production sites operating at maximum efficiency. Between 2001 and 2003, Sadam acquired part of the facilities and Eridania S.p.A.’s well-known brand, merging its technology expertise with a brand synonymous with sugar.

To meet the changing needs resulting from the European Common Market Reform (OCM 2005) and take advantage of opportunities in the newly liberalised sugar market, Sadam Engineering was recently reorganised from a division to an independent company of Eridania Sadam Group . This new structure was created to significantly improve competitiveness, achieve production diversification in the agro-industrial sector and to broaden the company's reach into other sectors through the implementation of new projects. In fact, together with the primary activities performed for the Group, Sadam Engineering has completed highly innovative new projects, resulting in pilot plants and European patents that are unique in Italy and around the world, and represent a reference point for development of the entire sector.
